Who is responsible for your information
School of the Kingdom Ministry (SKM), South Africa, determines why and how membership and ministry information is used. SKM is the responsible party under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). Motheo Siyasebenza Consulting (Pty) Ltd, trading as Pushafy, develops and operates the software for SKM under its instructions. Supabase provides authentication, database and storage infrastructure; it does not decide church membership.
The public website provides ministry information and has no member login or direct connection to the member database. The mobile app is member-facing. The standalone Ministry Workspace is restricted to authorised staff. Technical providers may receive basic request information, including IP addresses, to deliver and secure these services.
An app account is separate from church membership
An app account uses your email address and a securely hashed password for authentication. Google sign-in is being retired. Existing users can set an SKM password using the same email without creating a second membership record. We do not receive your Google password.
Creating an account or signing in is not an application for church membership and does not grant member-only access. You may choose Apply for membership in the app. The initial application asks for your full name, phone number, country and city; a province or region is optional. You are shown the membership privacy notice before submitting. Authorised church staff decide approval.
Unapproved users can use features made available to their account, such as the Bible and content explicitly available to them. The church directory, private groups, community chats, private announcements and member participation require the appropriate approval and permissions. An account does not make all church content public.
What we collect and why
Account data: email address, password hash, verification and sign-in/session records, for account security and access. Staff authentication may include additional verification.
Membership data: details submitted to SKM for membership review, approval status and subsequent profile information you provide. Optional fields can include date of birth, marital information, emergency contacts, location and a profile photo. The church requests these for identified membership or care purposes; the app is the collection channel.
Religious and pastoral information: membership, baptism or faith milestones, prayer requests, pastoral appointments and spiritual notes where you use those features. Religious affiliation and some pastoral information are sensitive or special personal information; calling it spiritual does not remove privacy protection.
App activity: Bible or reading-challenge progress, saved items, library reading progress, media history and your preferences, to provide the features you select.
Communications and safety: chat messages, announcements addressed to you, reports, blocks and moderation decisions, for communication and member safety. Reports are restricted to authorised moderators.
Giving and ministry records: contributions, attendance and related records when those features are used, for church administration and accounting.
Diagnostics and notifications: device/platform and app version, error details, account identifiers, network request information and push tokens, to troubleshoot failures and deliver chosen notifications. Sentry is used for error monitoring; these diagnostics are not described as anonymous where linked to an account.
We use information to provide the service you request, review membership, administer church activities and protect accounts. Where consent is required, we request it for the relevant purpose. Creating an account is not blanket consent to marketing, public profile visibility or optional device permissions. Do not submit another person's sensitive details without authority.
Sharing, permissions and international processing
Access is limited by membership, audience and staff role. Other approved members see the information you choose to share through available privacy settings and messages you send to their conversation. Authorised staff receive information needed for their responsibilities. The technical operator and infrastructure providers process information to operate and secure the service. We do not sell membership information for advertising.
Supabase, Cloudflare, Sentry, email and push providers may process data outside South Africa. Opening YouTube videos or Microsoft Teams links involves those providers and their own privacy notices. SKM must use appropriate contractual and transfer safeguards; a hosting location alone does not establish compliance. Photo and notification permissions are requested when needed, and you can change device permissions and in-app privacy choices.
The service is administered from South Africa under POPIA. Other mandatory privacy laws may apply to particular users or activities, including the GDPR where its territorial rules apply. This notice does not remove those rights or require you to waive them.
Retention, deletion and inactive accounts
We keep personal information only for the service and lawful recordkeeping purposes described here, not indefinitely because an account exists. Migration between systems does not create a new reason to retain unnecessary data. See the account and data deletion policy for the separate in-app and assisted routes, retained records and backup limits.
SKM is introducing an inactivity process: after 12 months without recorded activity, an email warning will give at least 14 days to sign in and keep the app account. No inactivity deletion will occur unless that warning has been delivered and the notice period has elapsed. Signing in or recorded account activity stops that inactivity cycle. It is separate from a member choosing Delete account. Church records with an independent lawful retention purpose are treated separately.
Children's information requires appropriate parental or competent-person authority where applicable. A child should not submit membership or sensitive information without that authority. Contact SKM for assisted handling; no age-based exemption from privacy safeguards is assumed.
Your choices and contact
You can correct profile information, change sharing and notification preferences, request access or object to processing where applicable, withdraw optional consent, and delete your app account. Withdrawal does not undo processing already lawfully completed. Church membership decisions are made by SKM; technical support does not grant membership.
